Our straws always hold up for at least 45 minutes in a beverage. The durability can vary depending on sun exposure and heat. After the first 30 minutes, they remain intact. Up to the first hour and beyond the initial 30 minutes, they might soften slightly but are still effective for continued use. After the first hour, it really depends on the sun and heat to make it to the full two hours.

Plastic and biodegradable plastic - they pollute the environment, cannot be recycled, and their use is prohibited in the European Union. Due to sustainability concerns, using plastic straws today can potentially give a "bad" image to your establishment.

Paper - A recent study has suggested that its use may also be prohibited. It contains various chemicals called PFAS that are harmful to human health. In terms of quality, paper straws often fail to satisfy most customers, as they become soft very quickly, leading to a less positive experience. Additionally, their design often doesn't complement the drink.

Pasta - Contains gluten and is only available in one color.

Other sustainable alternatives - Many of them tend to break easily, none of them offer the rigidity and efficiency of The Rice Straw.

Bamboo/Metal - They require washing, which may not be practical for businesses, and often customers prefer single-use straws.

Our straws are labeled and properly certified for food contact but are not intended to be consumed as food.
